Palmares

After a couple of wins from Mark Cavendish and Andre Greipel during the first 2 months of the season (2013), they were congratulated for their 100th career victories. What a great achievement that is!

We cannot yet say the same for Peter, but he is fast approaching. The number of his wins increase steadily and rapidly. Since becoming a member of the Liquigas - Doimo team in 2010, he has got 42 victories under his name as of March, 25th 2013. Odds are he can get to 50+ until we reach November 2013.

Any curious about his victories?

Dookola Mazowska (Mazovia Tour), Stage 2: The second stage was 156.6 km. long and Peter was already hungry for a win. With 25 kilometers left, a group of 22 riders including Peter broke clear. The group was increasing its lead kilometer by kilometer. 10 kilometers from the finish, the gap was nearly 2 minutes.

Everyone then automatically assumed the winner would be from this group. The finish line in sight, riders started sprinting and it was Peter Sagan who crossed the finish first beating Krzysztof Jeżowski into second place. Krzysztof was enjoying a good form at the time and was crowned as the Polish National Road Race champion just a month ago. However there was no stopping Sagan.

Paris - Nice, Stage 5: Peter did easily distanced himself from the rest of the peloton in this uphill sprint finish. Yes, he was this good in this sort of uphill sprint finishes even when he was just 20 years old. The majority of the cycling world acknowledged this in the Ardenne Classics and Tour 2012.

Plus, please also realize he had time to celebrate. Behind you can see Mirco Lorenzetto (Lampre - Farnese Vini) who will finish second and also Alejandro Valverde (Caisse d'Epargne) who will finish third but will eventually be disqualified due to his ban.

Vuelta a España, Stage 21: Vuelta 2011 was Peter's grand tour debut, he was 21 years old. But as you can guess he still managed to come up with a bunch of stage wins, to be precise 3. This time it was a flat sprint finish.

In the background, you can see Chris Sutton (Sky) already switching off his SRM.

Also there are a couple of hands in the air celebrating some of the victories they have just won. First one on the left is Bauke Mollema (Rabobank). His fist is up because he managed to finish 9th on this stage and this earned him enough points to edge out Joaquim Rodriguez to claim the points classification (Green Jersey).

Behind Mollema you can see David de la Fuente (Geox - TMC), he is celebrating his team leader's general classification victory. We can actually see him, Juan Jose Cobo as well, already in the red jersey to the right.

Tour de France, Stage 1: Just 10 months after his grand tour debut (Vuelta 2011), Tour 2012 was going to be Sagan's first Tour de France. We again didn't have to wait for too long for a Sagan victory salute. Just after the prologue, Sagan used the slightly uphill finish on the first road stage (Stage 1) to his best advantage and managed to get his first Tour stage win.

Behind race leader Fabian Cancellara (RadioShack - Nissan) who launched the initial attack from the front of the peloton came second. All-rounder Edvald Boasson Hagen (Sky) finished third.

Peter went on to win two other stages, plus he was on the podium in Champs-Élysées, wearing the green jersey.

Tirreno - Adriatico, Stage 6: Stage 6 of Tirreno - Adriatico was proven to be the most decisive. It included climbs up to 28% which shattered the peloton several times. Nibali was able to escape from the main contenders but was soon joined by Sagan and Joaquim Rodriguez.

The trio managed to keep the chasers away and when they were approaching the finish line, it was clear to whom the stage victory was going: Peter Sagan. Sagan sprinted to the stage victory with ease whilst Nibali came second and Rodriguez third.

In a stage where the main GC contenders like Contador and Froome lost time, Peter was able to climb with the best and got the stage victory. Many say this was Sagan's most profilic win of his career, up until now.
